This study investigated whether supplementing dairy cows with a mixture of fish oil and linseed during the three weeks before calving could improve the immunomodulatory quality of their colostrum. The supplementation significantly increased concentrations of immunoglobulins (IgG, IgA, IgM), lactoferrin, vitamin A, DHA, and CLA in colostrum, while decreasing pro-inflammatory fatty acids (LA and AA). These findings suggest that targeted nutritional modifications during the dry period can enhance colostrum quality in high-yield Holstein-Friesian cows, potentially improving passive immunity transfer and calf health.
