A 2022 survey of 595 Italian primary care paediatricians found that traditional spoon-feeding for complementary feeding has significantly declined from 60% (2015–2017) to 41%, while baby-led weaning and traditional feeding with adult food tastings have increased. Baby-led weaning remains more popular in Northern and Central Italy than in the South. The findings indicate a nationwide shift toward more infant-led and family-food-based weaning practices, with reduced endorsement of commercial baby foods.
