This study investigates correlations between front-of-pack labels (FOPLs) and food environmental sustainability indicators. FOPLs based on portion sizes (NutrInform Battery, Health Canada Surveillance Tool) showed moderate correlations with environmental indicators, while those based on 100 g standards (Nutri-Score, Health Star Ratings, Israeli labels) showed weak correlations. The findings suggest that incorporating serving size and frequency into nutrient profiling algorithms may better align health and sustainability messaging in food labeling.
