This cross-sectional study of 116 Iranian adults found that genetic variations in salt taste receptor genes (SCNN1B and TRPV1) are associated with differences in dietary sodium intake and diastolic blood pressure. Carriers of the A-allele in rs239345 (SCNN1B) had significantly higher sodium intake and diastolic blood pressure compared to those with the TT genotype. These findings suggest that genetic factors influencing salt taste perception may contribute to hypertension and cardiovascular disease risk in the Iranian population.
