This cross-sectional study of 203 adults at risk of type 2 diabetes found that individuals with unfavorable metabolic profiles (based on clinical or NMR metabolomics markers) showed stronger associations between dietary intake and glucose tolerance than those with favorable profiles. Specifically, higher vegetable intake was linked to better glucose tolerance only in the unfavorable clinical metabotype, an interaction confirmed by plasma carotenoid biomarkers. These findings suggest metabotyping could help tailor dietary interventions to specific subgroups in precision nutrition.
