This qualitative study used the COM-B framework to explore how 29 perinatal women perceive depression screening with the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS). Key findings revealed that patients often found screening questions too general, lacked feedback on results, and experienced barriers like poor provider communication, stigma, and logistical challenges that hindered treatment-seeking. The study highlights the need for patient-centered screening protocols that address both the screening and post-screening stages to improve mental health outcomes.
