This cross-sectional study of 98 healthy Korean women aged 26–40 found that higher urinary levels of the volatile organic compound metabolite trans,trans-muconic acid (tt-MA) and the polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon metabolite 2-hydroxynaphthalene (2-NAP) were associated with a significantly faster age-related increase in the FSH/AMH ratio, a marker of ovarian reserve decline. The FSH/AMH ratio increased 5.2 times faster in the high tt-MA group and 3.7 times faster in the high 2-NAP group compared to low-exposure groups (both p<0.05). These findings suggest that common environmental pollutants may accelerate ovarian aging, though larger prospective studies are needed to confirm causality.
