In a cohort of 46 NICU infants colonized with vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus faecium (VRE-fm) during an outbreak, the median time to clearance was 217 days, and all 40 infants who completed follow-up cleared carriage within 1 year. No clinical VRE infections occurred during 16–18 months of follow-up. These findings provide reassurance to clinicians and families about the self-limited nature of VRE colonization in this population.
