This document is a collection of abstracts from the VIROCON 2022 conference, covering diverse virology topics. The conference included orations, oral presentations, and poster sessions across medical, plant, veterinary, and aquatic virology. Medical virology abstracts covered influenza surveillance in Kashmir, development of a colorimetric LAMP assay for monkeypox virus, outbreaks of various viral etiologies during the COVID-19 pandemic, circulation of non-polio enteroviruses, molecular characterization of dengue viruses, evolutionary analysis of rotavirus C, isolation of cell fusing agent virus from Aedes aegypti, integration of HBV receptor NTCP into hepatoma cells, identification of small molecule inhibitors targeting alphavirus RNA-dependent RNA polymerase, lytic reactivation of Epstein-Barr virus, CRISPR/Cas9-based targeting of hepatitis B virus genome, genome characterization of monkeypox cases in India, genetic characterization of human bocavirus, immunogenetic studies on SARS-CoV-2, detection of SARS-CoV-2 RNA in stool and urine, structure-based identification of SARS-CoV-2 protease inhibitors, and a narrative review of antiviral drugs for COVID-19. Plant virology abstracts focused on CRISPR-Cas technology, whitefly-transmitted geminiviruses, begomoviruses infecting cucurbits, lateral flow immunoassay for virus detection, and emerging poleroviruses. Veterinary virology abstracts covered African swine fever, SARS-CoV-2 zooanthroponosis, lumpy skin disease, and bluetongue virus. Aquatic virology abstracts addressed viral diseases in cold water aquaculture, fish cell lines, and medicinal plants against viral diseases. The conference highlighted the importance of surveillance, diagnostics, and therapeutic development for emerging and re-emerging viral infections across multiple domains.
