This cross-sectional study of 224 commercial sex workers in Mombasa, Kenya found that 99% tested positive for at least one drug via saliva testing, with alcohol and tobacco being the most common. Poly-drug use was nearly universal (98% tested positive for more than one drug), and 88% attributed drug use to sex work-related pressure. The findings highlight an urgent need for targeted harm reduction and economic empowerment interventions for this population.
