This study analyzed 30 thermal paper receipts from Sharjah, UAE and found that 60% exceeded the EU limit of 200 ng/mg for BPA, with concentrations ranging from <0.02 to 978.2 ng/mg. Estimated daily intakes (EDI) for the general population (up to 0.000812 μg/kg bw/day) and cashiers (up to 0.0681 μg/kg bw/day) were below the EFSA Tolerable Daily Intake of 4 μg/kg bw/day, though cashiers under aggressive exposure scenarios exceeded California's proposed MADL. The findings highlight the need for policies and awareness to reduce dermal BPA exposure, especially with increased sanitizer use.
