This study tested a commercial azadirachtin (neem-derived) product against the root-knot nematode Meloidogyne incognita on short-cycle lettuce and long-cycle tomato in a greenhouse. On lettuce (45-day cycle), azadirachtin reduced nematode soil populations by 71% and root galling by 47%, and increased yield by 36.7%, matching the synthetic nematicide fluopyram. On tomato (120-day cycle), azadirachtin failed to sustain nematode suppression through the full season, though it still improved yield by 38.2% and provided added insect pest control.
