The Synchrony 2022 conference, hosted by The BRAIN Foundation, brought together academic and industry researchers to accelerate translational research for neurodevelopmental disorders including autism spectrum disorder. Key findings presented included the role of gut microbial metabolite 4EPS in impairing myelination, mitochondrial dysfunction in ~5% of ASD cases, and promising results from transcranial photobiomodulation and microbiota transplant therapy. The conference established working groups to develop consensus guidelines on neuroinflammation, biomarkers, and epilepsy management in ASD.
