This study investigated how sulfur availability affects selenium uptake in four tetraploid wheat genotypes. Low sulfur supply significantly increased selenium accumulation in all genotypes, with the ancient Etrusco genotype showing the highest capacity for both sulfur and selenium accumulation. These findings demonstrate that modulating sulfur nutrition could be a viable strategy for selenium biofortification of wheat to improve human nutrition.
