This study investigated how tactile exercises and food origin (animal vs. nonanimal) affect 11- to 13-year-old children's rejection and acceptance of unfamiliar foods. Children who performed a food-printing tactile exercise prior to cooking showed more playful, exploratory behavior and inappropriateness-driven rejection, while those without the exercise displayed disgust-driven rejection. Despite initial rejection, most children ultimately tasted and accepted the cooked dishes, suggesting that hands-on cooking activities in schools can promote healthier food behavior even with unfamiliar ingredients.
