This cross-sectional study of 21 children with MIS-C found that 95% had hypovitaminosis D, with 71% being vitamin D deficient. Lower vitamin D levels were significantly associated with more severe MIS-C and worse cardiac function, including lower left ventricular ejection fraction and diastolic dysfunction. The findings suggest vitamin D may serve as a biomarker for MIS-C severity and that vitamin D replacement therapy should be considered early in treatment.
