This study investigated the effects of probiotic administration (Lactobacillus casei and Bifidobacterium longum) on Plasmodium berghei-infected mice. B. longum treatment significantly reduced parasitemia, decreased pro-inflammatory cytokines (IFN-γ and TNF-α), and increased intestinal CD103 and FoxP3 expression, indicating gut immune modulation. These findings suggest that B. longum supplementation may have a protective role against Plasmodium infection through modulation of gut immunity, providing a basis for further research on probiotics as adjunctive therapy in malaria.
