This modeling study estimates that implementing a mandatory 'high in' front-of-pack nutrition label in Canada could reduce sodium, total sugar, and saturated fat intakes among Canadian adults, potentially preventing or delaying up to 8,907 diet-related non-communicable disease deaths annually, mostly from cardiovascular diseases. The findings suggest that even modest dietary changes at the population level could yield meaningful health improvements, supporting the recently published Canadian FOPL regulations set to take effect by January 2026.
