This mixed-method study of 81 nomadic Raute hunter-gatherers in Western Nepal found a 30.9% prevalence of hypertension (48.8% in males, 10.5% in females), exceeding the general Nepalese population. Alcohol and tobacco use were alarmingly high (91.4% and 70.4%, respectively), with concerning rates among youths under 25. The findings highlight an emerging cardiovascular disease burden in this endangered population undergoing socioeconomic and dietary transition, underscoring the need for culturally sensitive interventions.
