This study used a Bayesian spatial mixed model to analyze geographic patterns of childhood overweight and obesity in Costa Rica using data from the 2016 Weight and Size Census and 2011 National Census. Average years of schooling showed a non-linear (U-inverted) relationship with obesity, while districts with lower poverty and fewer children under 14 had higher obesity odds. Spatial patterns revealed higher prevalence in central Costa Rica, touristic destinations, and border areas with Panama, informing targeted public health interventions.
