This community-based cross-sectional study in the South Ari district of Southern Ethiopia found that 44.8% of households were food insecure. Key risk factors included larger family size (≥8 members), high dependency ratio, poor wealth index, lack of agricultural extension service use, and not being a beneficiary of the productive safety net program. The findings highlight the need for targeted interventions such as family planning, income-generating activities, and expansion of safety net programs to address food insecurity in this agrarian district.
