Commercial immunoglobulin (Ig) products used for antibody-deficient patients contain high levels of vaccine-induced SARS-CoV-2 antibodies starting approximately 18 months after the pandemic began (July 2021). However, these antibodies show markedly reduced cross-reactivity and neutralizing potential against Omicron variants compared to the original Wuhan strain. This raises concerns about the efficacy of standard Ig replacement therapy in protecting immunodeficient patients against emerging SARS-CoV-2 variants.
