This open-label feasibility study evaluated whether a large clinical trial of long-acting injectable antipsychotics (paliperidone palmitate monthly and every-3-months) could be conducted within Rwanda's mental healthcare system. The study was terminated early by the sponsor due to Good Clinical Practice deficiencies, but identified key areas for improvement including staff training, site infrastructure, and study governance. Despite early termination, the findings directly informed the design of a larger ongoing interventional trial in Rwanda, demonstrating that systematic feasibility assessment is critical before committing to full-scale trials in resource-limited settings.
