This study cloned the full-length coding sequence of quail METTL3, the key enzyme for RNA m6A modification, and demonstrated that it promotes both proliferation and differentiation of quail myoblasts (QM7 cells). Overexpression of METTL3 accelerated cell cycle progression and increased expression of myogenic markers MYOG, MYOD1, and MEF2C, while knockdown produced opposite effects. These findings establish METTL3-mediated RNA m6A modification as an important epigenetic regulatory mechanism in poultry skeletal muscle development.
