This retrospective cohort study from two Latin American pediatric centers reports that among 57 children with gastrointestinal (GI) or liver graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) after hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, GI involvement (74%) was most common, with diarrhea (96%) and abdominal pain (55%) as the leading symptoms. Endoscopic findings were variable and did not correlate directly with histology, and overall mortality was 26%. The findings highlight that GI GVHD tends to present early post-transplant, while liver involvement occurs later and may signal more severe disease.
