This retrospective study of 16 children with CHARGE syndrome found that all newborns had feeding difficulties, with 60% requiring tube feeding at birth. Over time, most children showed gradual improvement, with 43% eventually achieving a mature chewing pattern at a median age of 8.5 years, though a subset with severe cranial nerve dysfunction remained tube-dependent. The findings provide the first longitudinal data on feeding skill progression in CHARGE syndrome, offering clinicians age-specific benchmarks for prognosis and rehabilitation planning.
