This study introduces a novel fundus autofluorescence (AF) imaging technique using red excitation light (642 nm and 705 nm) that provides improved patient comfort, reduced glare, and better image quality in patients with cataract compared to standard short-wavelength AF. The red-excitation AF allows detailed assessment of the fovea and may offer additional diagnostic information in retinal diseases such as age-related macular degeneration and Stargardt disease. This technique holds potential for safer, quantitative AF imaging in clinical practice and research.
