This ex-vivo porcine study compared manual and robot-assisted subretinal injections using intraoperative OCT guidance. Robot-assisted surgery resulted in significantly less post-injection reflux (23.7% vs 58.8%, p<0.01) and a trend toward higher success rates (73.7% vs 61.8%), though the latter was not statistically significant. These findings suggest robotic assistance may improve the precision and safety of subretinal drug delivery, potentially reducing waste of costly therapeutic agents.
