This study found that patients with wild-type transthyretin amyloidosis (ATTRwt) have significantly reduced vessel density in the superficial capillary plexus, deep capillary plexus, and choriocapillaris, as well as a lower choroidal vascularity index, compared to healthy controls. These changes were observed even without visual deterioration, suggesting subclinical retinal and choroidal vascular involvement. OCT angiography and choroidal vascularity index may serve as non-invasive biomarkers for early detection and monitoring of ocular involvement in ATTRwt.
