Among 2797 patients admitted for ischaemic heart disease, 7.7% had potential familial hypercholesterolaemia (FH), yet none were previously diagnosed. Only 26.1% of potential FH patients were on lipid-lowering therapy, and almost none achieved LDL-C goals. This highlights a critical missed opportunity for diagnosis and treatment, especially in younger patients with premature IHD.
