This pre-clinical study in a swine model demonstrates that bronchoscopic deployment of Diffusing alpha-emitters Radiation Therapy (Alpha DaRTs) into lung parenchyma and mediastinum is feasible, precise, and safe. A total of 158 Alpha DaRTs were successfully inserted with minimal movement and no migration, and histopathology showed only mild local inflammatory changes. These findings support the potential of Alpha DaRTs as a bronchoscopic ablative therapy for lung cancer, particularly when surgery or stereotactic ablative radiotherapy is not feasible.
