This Mendelian randomisation study used genetic data from large cohorts of people of East Asian and European ancestry to investigate the causal relationship between higher BMI and subjective well-being. The central result was that the effect of higher BMI on health satisfaction differed by ancestry, with evidence for a positive association in East Asian populations but a negative association in European populations.
