A retrospective cross-sectional study of 48 pediatric IBD patients assessed bone mineral density via DEXA scans and found a high prevalence of osteoporosis (27.1% total body, 39.5% spine) and osteopenia (33.3% total body, 32.6% spine), with low BMI, ileocolonic disease location, low calcium, low hemoglobin, and infliximab use as significant predictors.
