This cross-sectional study used corneal confocal microscopy to show that patients with hereditary transthyretin amyloidosis and presymptomatic carriers have significantly reduced corneal nerve fibre density compared to healthy controls. Patients also exhibited increased corneal immune cell infiltration, which correlated with nerve loss.
