This cross-sectional study used fluorescence lifetime imaging ophthalmoscopy to compare retinal fluorescence lifetimes between young, healthy smokers and non-smokers. It found a statistically significant, smoking dose-dependent elongation of the mean fluorescence lifetime in specific retinal regions of smokers.
