Embryos of Downs herring were experimentally reared at 8°C, 10°C, and 14°C from fertilization to hatching, and higher temperatures negatively affected fertilization rate, egg diameter, hatching rate, and yolk sac volume. Substantial family-level variability and maternal attribute effects were also detected for key embryonic traits.
