This systematic review and narrative synthesis evaluated nine screening instruments used to identify risk factors related to Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) in vulnerable children in primary care settings in low- and middle-income countries. None of the nine identified instruments were found suitable for rapidly identifying the effects of ACEs in frontline clinical settings due to issues including their retrospective nature, rater decisional capacity, institutional capacity, and limited ability to assess individual biopsychosocial risk factors.
