This preclinical study in normal-weight male mice compared long-term (72h) and conventional (24h) intermittent fasting protocols and found that the 72-hour fasting regimen produced stronger and more sustainable improvements in glucose tolerance, lipid utilization, and exercise endurance, lasting for four weeks after fasting ended.
