Using a combination of in silico screening, in vitro cell assays, and an in vivo mouse model, the authors isolated the peptide NGGPSGPR from tilapia skin peptides and demonstrated its anti-dry eye disease activity. NGG restored corneal epithelial cell viability, inhibited COX-2 expression in vitro, and improved multiple dry eye parameters in mice.
