Odisha tribal family health survey: methods, tools, and protocols for a comprehensive health assessment survey

Adapted instruments from national surveys were translated, back-translated, and pre-tested for comprehension and feasibility. Field measurements and laboratory investigations are designed to capture chronic disease indicators across age groups. Data management uses an open-source SQL platform to handle complex interlinked data. The authors acknowledge that the sample size will be underpowered for some indicators and overpowered for others, noting that post hoc design and survey weights will mitigate this. Ethical considerations include stakeholder involvement at the village level. The survey is intended to serve as a baseline for future longitudinal studies and repeated rounds of data collection.
