Researchers synthesized arginine-based carbon dots (CDs) and modified them with riboflavin to create a photosensitive nanomaterial. The modified CDs showed rapid, total eradication of common bacteria when exposed to UV-A light for 30 minutes, while maintaining low cytotoxicity and hemocompatibility in laboratory tests.
