This cross-sectional study of 247 Peruvian siblings from 110 families used pedometers and multilevel modeling to estimate sibling resemblance in physical activity (steps/day and moderate minutes/day). The main finding was a significant intraclass correlation (ρ=0.44 for steps/day) that did not differ significantly between sibling types (brother-brother, sister-sister, brother-sister) after adjusting for age, BMI, and geographical region. A key limitation is the inability to separate genetic and environmental influences due to the absence of twin data.
