A hospital-based cross-sectional study of 391 adults with diabetes in Southern Ethiopia found a 10.7% prevalence of sight-threatening diabetic retinopathy, with hypertension, diabetic peripheral neuropathy, low physical activity, poor glycaemic control, longer diabetes duration, and rural residence identified as significant associated factors.
