This narrative review synthesizes evidence that maternal nutritional and metabolic disturbances during pregnancy can lead to fetal programming and increased risk of hypertension in offspring. It proposes that targeting nutrient-sensing signals and reducing metabolic wastes may offer future prevention strategies.
